Chocolate Courses

The Chocolate Studio is situated on the 'helter - skelter' road to Riber Castle in Matlock, on the edge of the Peak district. While working with chocolate, you'll be able to enjoy the Panoramic views of Matlock - Matlock Bath - Heights of Abraham Cable cars - and the hills towards Chatsworth. But be careful not to spill any chocolate while doing so.

The courses are ideal as a Gift to a 'chocoholic', - to further your skills in chocolate work, or if you've always been curious on how all things chocolate work

We offer a few different ½, 1, 2 - 5 day 'hands-on' courses, lessons are also adapted according to season  and personal requirements*. (*we do not teach how to make chocolate wedding/birthday cakes!)

Comments:

I recentley attended a day's chocolate course at Taeke Oosterwouds studio in Starkholmes, Matlock. The course was bought for me as a birthday present as I am a trained chef and was keen to develop my knowledge of chocolate work.

The course was great in every way - on my arrival there was fresh coffee! and some literature on the course content along with some guidance on tempering different chocolate. Taeke's friendly nature took me through the day producing truffles, moulds, decorations all the while taking time to guide me in the areas I needed as well as giving me space to make my own mistakes!
The attention to detail as well as his obvious mastery and passion for his work helped me to get a lot from the day in terms of knowledge acquired and skills learned.

All in all, this is a good guy to learn from - highly skilled with a friendly but respected approach that actually taught me more than a year at catering college!

Highly recommended.

Just wanted to thank you for the two days while I was in Matlock. I very much appreciate the class as it was great and helped gain some valuable knowledge in the field of chocolate. I think it was very nice especially because of the one to one tutorial with you.

Also unlike many other instructors you were always there to answer my questions and guide me through. Apart from the above you have also been so kind to help me with transportation from my B & B.

All in all I can say it was a great two days and hope to visit you in a few months time to learn something new from you.

Thank you and Sue for being very kind,

Kind Regards

Sinclair Pinto
